10 lines/scenes from the book that i would have wished to see in the movie:(no particular order)

1. Train Scene: “Here’s some advice. Stay alive,” says Haymitch, and then bursts out laughing. I exchange a look with Peeta before I remember that I’m having nothing more to do with him. I’m surprised to see the hardness in his eyes. He generally seems so mild.

‘That’s very funny,’ says Peeta. Suddenly, he lashes out at the glass in Haymitch’s hand. It shatters on the floor, sending the bloodred liquid running toward the back of the train. ‘Only not to us.’

Haymitch considers this a moment, then punches Peeta in the jaw, knocking him from his chair. When he turns back to reach for the spirits, I drive my knife into the table between his hand and the bottle, barely missing his fingers. I brace myself to deflect his hit, but it doesn’t come. Instead, he sits back and squints at us.

‘Well, what’s this?’ says Haymitch. ‘Did I actually get a pair of fighters this year?”

2. Cave scene: Peeta: “We were five. You had a plaid dress and your hair…it was in two braids instead of one. My father pointed you out while we were waiting to line up. He said, ‘See that little girl? I wanted to marry her mother, but she ran off with a coal miner.’ And I said, ‘A coal miner? Why did she want a coal miner if she could’ve had you?’ And he said, ‘Because when he sings…even the birds stop to listen.’ So that day, in music assembly, the teacher asked who knew the valley song. Your hand shot right up in the air. She put you up on a stool and had you sing it for us. And I swear, ever bird outside the windows fell silent. And right when your song ended, I knew -just like your mother- I was a goner.”

3. Cave scene: When Katniss is trying so hard to do what her mother does best -heal, Peeta who is dying from his wound.

When katniss promised not to go to the feast at the cornicupia, Peeta: “You’re such a bad liar, Katniss. I don’t know how you’ve survived this long.” He begins to mimic me. “I knew that goat would be a little gold mine. You’re a little cooler though. Of course, I’m not going. He shakes his head. “Never gamble at cards. You’ll lose your last coin,” he says.

4. Peeta to Haymitch:“She has no idea. The effect she can have”

5. Peeta taking care of her after she risked her life, getting badly wounded at the cornicurpia to get the medicine Peeta needs to survive.

6. Lake scene: “here to finish me off sweetheart”, “Remember, we’re madly in love, so it’s all right to kiss me anytime you feel like it.” and “Yes, frosting. The final defense of the dying.”

7.“It was all for the Games,” Peeta says. “How you acted.”

“Not all of it,” I say, tightly holding onto my flowers.

“Then how much? No, forget that. I guess the real question is what’s going to be left when we get home?” he says.

“I don’t know. The closer we get to District Twelve, the more confused I get,” I say. He waits, for further explanation, but none’s forthcoming.

“Well, let me know when you work it out,” he says, and the pain in his voice is palpable.

8.”One more time? For the audience?” he says. His voice isn’t angry. It’s hollow, which is worse. Already the boy with the bread is slipping away from me.

I take his hand, holding on tightly, preparing for the cameras, and dreading the moment when I will finally have to let go.”

9. Peeta bleeding to death at the cornicupia when they went down on a fight with Cato. Using her arrow, Katniss made a turniquet to stop the bleeding telling Peeta not to leave her.

10. Katniss’ hysteria when peeta collapses from fatigue and from bleeding so much when they were collected from the arena.

Don’t get me wrong, i SO loved the movie, i thought it’s just amazing. The casts are spot-on and the director did a great job at not disapointing the fans and Suzanne Collins herself, the scoring is wonderful. There might be some essential details missed or were weakly established in the movie like -what does the mockingjay symbolizes, what it is really or why is it called the Hunger games or what not, but i still think, as a whole, the film did give justice to the book. (if you think so otherwise then i respect your opinion). Well, we could only wish that the second installment (Catching Fire) would be able to cover these things but i put my faith on Gary Ross and his team since they seem to know what they’re doing.

-When Katniss panicked when she thought Peeta got killed by Cato.

-Katniss comforting Prim when she woke up from a nightmare. Singing to her a lullaby.

-Rue’s death scene (Everybody loves this!)

-three finger salute from District 11 and the uprising that followed

-Peeta and Katniss’ interview with Ceasar Flickerman and after, Katniss shoving Peeta backstage (jen is really strong!)

-Tracker Jacker scene

-the ‘kiss’ <3

-President Snow and Seneca Crane’s dialogue

-Katniss and Clove’s fight scene

Of Hunger Games The Movie…

Blockbuster film franchises are like fast food cheeseburgers… filling, fun to eat but have very little (to no) nutritional value. Hunger Games is made of organic meat with fresh vegetables tucked in a wheat bread bun… it’s still looks & tastes like a cheeseburger, but it’s actually healthy.

I’m glad mainstream stuff could actually be this good : )
